Unique and stylish candleholder

Anna Maria Øfstedal Eng, an extremely talented product designer/artist, located out of beautiful Norway, graciously sent me one of her incredible candleholders. I was thrilled when she agreed to sending one, all the way across the Atlantic Ocean. And on that note, I’m the first American owner of this beautiful piece of art (I feel extra special).

Anna Maria is in the process of opening her own design studio. What makes her work so unique, is the fact that everything she produces, is just that…unique. She sources local materials such as spalt and Norwegian blue clay in her products, while integrating beautiful patterns and shapes. According to Anna Maria:

My objects are developed intuitively and experimentally, in an aesthetic interaction between the hand and the machine. Inspired by the nature and it’s naturals materials, shapes and forms meet together in new interpretations.

I was so inspired by her work, as I was late-night scrolling through Instagram and happily (yet accidentally), stumbled upon her account. I’ve said this before, and I’ll say it again, I have a thing for quirky shaped and unique pieces of art. I feel that there’s beauty in the imperfect. It makes it more interesting. Don’t you think?

I love how the candleholder fits seamlessly in to my design, and yet simultaneously, stands out beautifully. It’s a talking piece and several people have exclaimed, “that is beautiful. Where did you get that?”

Anna Maria has had several exhibitions in Oslo and beyond. I can’t wait to see what’s to come in her new studio. In the meantime, I’d highly encourage you to check out her work online, if you aren’t local to Norway. It’s worth your time. Trust me: Anna Maria Ofstedal Eng
