If anyone knows anything about me, it’s that I love minimalism. This transcends from fashion, to interiors, to cars and especially art. When it comes to having things hang on my wall, I am extra particular. I want to be able to stare at it, and not be overwhelmed by over-the-top color or distraction. So when the incredible Atelier CPH contacted me for a collaboration, I was beyond thrilled.

Atelier CPH is a multidisciplinary design studio out of Copenhagen, Denmark, run by two incredible ladies who’s aim is to:

CREATE CUSTOMIZED SOLUTIONS WITHIN CONCEPT DEVELOPMENT, ART DIRECTION & STYLING, BRAND IDENTITY, TREND FORECASTING, VISUAL & DIGITAL COMMUNICATION, PRINT DESIGN, PUBLICATION & EDITORIAL.

Not only do they offer these full services, they have a beautiful webshop full of prints, sculptures, and stationery. I was asked to choose two prints from their Deconstructed Collection, and after much going back and forth (in my mind), I settled on Deconstructed No. 32 + 35.

I especially love the whole idea behind the Deconstructed Collection. According to Mandy Rep and Sara Ingemann (the talented ladies behind Atelier CPH), it was influenced by architectural drawings from a trip, in which they visited the Bauhaus Archive in Berlin. “Bauhaus was a pillar of modernism, and made space for experimentation in design, which we found interesting while researching for this collection!”

With the geometric and clean lines of the Deconstructed Collection, much influence was additionally taken from the art movement of De Stijl, who according to them, is “all about pure abstraction and universality by a reduction to the essentials of form and colour!”

I couldn’t agree more, it is truly seen in the layering and drawings on the paper, when observed up close.

What is also important to me, is being able to have versatility with my art. Because of the abstract nature of these prints, I am able to hang them horizontally and/or vertically and it completely changes the look of the space. I LOVE that.

The fact that I can easily move the prints from my bedroom, to living space, and office is also a major bonus. They truly fit in any room seamlessly. I had the greatest time moving them throughout my home, and attempting to decide where to permanently place them. It was quite difficult to make a decision, because they work anywhere.
